2017 Nfl Draft Sleepers
Mitchell Trubisky, North Carolina, 6-foot-2, 222 pounds; Grade: First round. Strengths: Makes NFL. Rex Burkhead, RB, Patriots. We know this Patriots backfield is gonna produce fantasy points. They’ve finished among the top 12 in rushing TDs in 13 straight seasons. They’ve ranked 13th or better in rushing yards in 9 of the last 13 years. And this 2017 Pats offense has a chance to be 1 of the best in the Brady/Belichick era. 2017 NFL Draft sleepers, under-the-radar prospects — Quarterback: Alek Torgersen, Penn. Many of the quarterbacks in this lackluster class have received buzz, including likely Day 3 options like.
Here (in alphabetical order) are my five sleepers for the 2017 draft: Tarell Basham, DE, Ohio, 6-3/269 Small-college edge rusher with speed. He has experience playing in a two-point stance and also with his hand on the ground. Very quick off the ball. He dominated in the MAC, but the question is how will he handle the jump to the NFL?
The San Francisco 49ers aren’t done selecting in the 2017 NFL draft with six picks as the team enters Day 3. The depth of this draft class has been discussed plenty, but it’s worth repeating that the 49ers could find starters well into the fifth round.
General manager John Lynch spent his first two picks bolstering an anemic run defense, grabbing Stanford’s Solomon Thomas and trading back into the first round to select Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster. Both players fill immediate needs on a weak defense, but the roster as a whole still has room for significant improvement.
Many general managers can nail the first round of the draft. Teams have spent months scouting players and looking for a dynamic prospect to alter the trajectory of their franchise. The best general managers continue to value throughout the draft, particularly on Day 3. Lynch has done a masterful job in his first run as the decision maker, but Saturday becomes the true test for rebuilding a crumbling roster.
2017 Nfl Draft Order
The talent that will be available Saturday morning can go a long way in securing a successful season and creating an identity for the organization moving forward. Additionally, isolating the traits in specific prospects can be the difference in landing an impact player that just needs coaching or wasting a pick on a fringe player.
The 49ers will need a tackle replacement for Joe Staley within the next few years. At worst, they need to find a legitimate swing tackle aside from last year’s selection of John Theus.
Nfl 2017 Mock Draft
The team was linked to Davenport throughout the pre-draft process and may still be interested in him if he’s available in the fifth round. He’s a big tackle (6-foot-7, 318, 36 ½-inch arms) that lacks traditional college experience but could be an excellent developmental selection.
